Use of immunohistochemical staining panel for characterisation of ovarian neoplasms.
Eighty five ovarian epithelial and non-epithelial tumours were studied by peroxidase histochemical staining for their reactivity with six monoclonal human milk fat globule (HMFG) antibodies, peanut agglutinin (PNA) lectin, and a monoclonal cytokeratin antibody. HMFG IIIC12 and cytokeratin antibodies distinguished epithelial from non-epithelial tumours. The staining patterns of mucinous and sero...
متن کامل[Immunohistochemical staining of p16 in squamous cell carcinomas of the genital and extragenital area].
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Positive immunostaining for the tumor suppressor protein p16 is associated with the presence of mucosal or αsubtypes of human papillomavirus (HPV) in cervical and genital squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). The aim of this study was to determine whether p16 immunostaining is also associated with mucosal HPV in extragenital SCC. MATERIAL AND METHODS Paraffin sections of le...
متن کاملDiagnostic utility of p16 immunocytochemistry for Trichomonas in urine cytology
We present a case in which p16 immunocytochemistry helped establish the diagnosis of Trichomonas in urine from a male patient. Based on this finding, we recommend p16 immunocytochemistry as a diagnostic tool for unexpected patients or specimen types in which potential trichomonads are identified following routine cytologic evaluation.
متن کاملOtago glaucoma surgery outcome study: cytology and immunohistochemical staining of bleb capsules around Molteno implants.
PURPOSE To describe the cytology and immunohistochemistry of Molteno implant capsules from cases of primary and secondary glaucoma. METHODS Histologic features of capsules including cell cytology, the distribution of activated (proliferating) cells, apoptosing cells, and membrane bound vesicles (presumed death messengers) were assessed by light microscopy and correlated with clinicopathologic...
متن کاملHeparin priming of EUS-FNA needles does not adversely affect tissue cytology or immunohistochemical staining
Background and study aims Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided fine-needle aspiration (FNA) or biopsy (FNB) is an indispensable diagnostic tool. Improvements in needling technique have led to increasing tissue yields. Blood clogging of the needle can cause difficulties with specimen handling and stylet passage, which improves when the needle is primed with heparin before use. However, the effect...
